Drugstore Hauling!

So over the past few months, I managed to pick up a few items from the drugstore and here are the products I’ve been trying out!

20131017-212938.jpg

First off, e.l.f concealer brush.

20131017-213253.jpg

I got this as part of the 12 piece makeup brushes set and thought it’d be really useful to blend concealer into the skin flawlessly, but no. It was a major letdown. The brush itself was way too small.

20131017-214258.jpg

(Sorry if it’s a bit dirty, I used it to line the eyes instead.) Look at how small the brush it, I only wish my blemishes were that tiny. Plus it’s so difficult to use it in a stippling motion and “spreading” it just ruined everything. Thank goodness it was cheap.

Next, Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze. This has been raved all over youtube and among beauty gurus, so I thought I’d give it a shot. Though it is easy to apply and blend, it’s a little too dark for me. Suits a smokey eye more.

20131017-214900.jpg

I really like the shimmer and bronze-ness to this, the metallicness is wonderful! I might get Inked in Pink soon, seems like a very pretty pinky shade that provides a great wash of color on the lids.

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation in natural beige. I had great expectations of this because everyone has been giving it praises.

20131017-215514.jpg

However I thought this was fine. It has an orange undertone, which makes it seem a little like a fake tan gone wrong. The smell isn’t too pleasant, but neither does it smell awful. I might try this for a few more times before I make a decision whether to love it or hate it.

Urban Decay Lip Envy in Greedy. This was the only item that wasn’t from the drugstore, but it was half price at the time I got it, so why not?

20131017-220017.jpg

It’s a deep berry color that can be sheered out into a light fuchsia. It smells like vanilla which isn’t overpowering, smells amazing. I honestly thought that the product would be bigger than what it actually is, but hey, who needs a huge bottle of stain?

For the best look, make sure your lips aren’t chapped / flaky. It’ll look horrible if you apply a stain because it will enhance the chappiness. Try to use a lip balm before application to hydrate the lips and get rid of any dryness.

e.l.f flawless eyeshadow set. This looked really easy to apply, since they have all the words for you to apply onto the lids. However, everything was too shimmery.

20131017-221337.jpg

It’s so shimmery to the point that it looks frosty on the lids. It’s pretty hard to blend as well! I tried using the lid color as the crease and it wouldn’t blend in with the base. I looked so stupid. Definitely wouldn’t buy it, but the base color makes a great highlight.

20131017-223417.jpg

Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me. This is a great product that’s fast and easy. You don’t need a mirror to put it on and you’ll look just fine! Plus the color is pretty subtle, so no one can actually tell that they aren’t your true lip color, *winks*

20131017-224522.jpg

The packaging is so adorable and the scent really reminds me of a Chapstick I’d use when I was much younger. Great memories.

20131017-224648.jpg

Maybelline The Colossal Volum Express mascara. This was a miss then hit for me. I didn’t like it at first because it took longer than the clump crusher to dry and would transfer easier. However when I realised what difference it makes to my eyes and how easy it is to be washed away, I liked it more.

20131017-225115.jpg

One thing that I didn’t like was the way it smelled. It was so weird. Maybe it’s just my tube, I don’t know. But it doesn’t tickle my fancy.

20131017-225524.jpg

Last but not least! CoverGirl Smoochies Lip Balm in Luv Bug

20131017-225702.jpg

This has some shimmer in it, and might get a little frosty, but it’s all good! The sheerness of it is perfect for me and provides the perfect pop of color for the lips. The typical “your lip but better” kind of color. There’s a huge huge huge range of colors to choose from, you’ll definitely be able to find a color that suits you.

20131017-230006.jpg

This smells a lot like my mum’s lipstick, how I used to borrow hers and play with it when I was younger.

Alright, this wraps up a mini haul I have, and I hope you’ve enjoyed it!

Disclaimer : everything was bought with my own money! No company has sent me anything and so they’re all my honest opinions and thoughts.

Fast and Furious : Fresh edition.

Title’s pretty cute isn’t it?

However this has nothing to do with car racing or Vin Diesal. In this blog, it has to be with beauty!

If you’re in an ultimate rush but don’t want to look like you just woke up, here’s a makeup routine that barely takes up any time.

20131017-143806.jpg

First off, concealer. Make sure you use a concealer that suits your skin tone and cover up any blemishes and dark circles. Since we’re not going to use eyeshadow, you can use this to correct the color on your eyelid or cover up the veins.

20131017-144534.jpg

Here, I’m using the Flawless Liquid Concealer by Y.E.T , it isn’t the best concealer because it does crease and isn’t the best looking under the eyes.

Next, powder! This will reduce the shine in the T-zone and give a nice matte finish to the skin, making it seem like you have flawless skin. Do keep it in your purse so you can do touch-ups during the day when it gets messy.

20131017-145317.jpg

This is CoverGirl Professional Loose Powder that has a tiny bit of coverage, which is great! If you have dry skin, skip this step because it will make your skin drier than it already is. (Don’t you think the packaging looks a lot like Laura Mercier’s mineral foundation?)

Mascara. This will give the eyes a bit of a boost and make it seem brighter and bigger than original.

20131017-145958.jpg

I’d like to use Maybelline’s The Colossal Volum Express mascara because it does really lengthen my lashes, however my lashes clump together a little.

Lastly, a pop of color on the lips! This will make your whole face seem brighter and more lively. You can always do this in the car, right before you reach your destination. No reckless driving though!

20131017-150457.jpg

This is CoverGirl Smoochies lip balm, however it feels more like a gloss to me, just because of the finish it gives.

There you have it! A makeup routine for the rushing folks that will take no time at all! Hope this has helped you, thanks for reading!

Stay tuned lovelies x

Happy girls are…

Happy girls are the prettiest. -Audrey Hepburn

From one of the most beautiful lady in the world, live by that quote. Smile more, be happy.

Do things that make you feel good about yourself. Once you’re truly happy, you’ll just glow. All the positive energy would be rubbed off onto other people and it’s always a pleasure to meet happy souls.

Stay lovely!

Disneyland!

This video happened to pop up while I was watching Tyler’s How To Take Over Sydney. After watching the whole video I just wanted to work at Disneyland so bad, be one of the princesses there that makes all kids squeal in delight. Did you see how they looked? So gorgeous, it’s almost unreal.

In a rush!

Face it, some of us prefer having that extra hour of sleep, rather than spending it on doing makeup. SO. This post will be for those of us that are running late, but still want to look “presentable” and fresh.

Concealer : This is essential because the dark circles under our eyes causes us to look tired and by concealing them, it fakes the fact that we’ve been up all night “studying” or doing “work” and makes it seem as though we’ve had a full 8 hour sleep.

The Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer is great because of its amazing coverage and how easy it blends into the skin. The wand applicator also makes it easy to apply the concealer at target areas. Simply dot it at areas you want to cover up and with a clean finger, pat and blend it into the skin. You can also use a brush! If you have veins on your eyelids, you can also use this to cover them up.

Image

Personally, I would not recommend the roller-ball type concealers. Although they’re much easier to apply, they do not provide much coverage and it isn’t ideal for those that have bad dark circles due to allergies or the lack of sleep.

Eyebrows : I never believed how eyebrows would affect the whole appearance but after seeing how girls look with and without their eyebrows filled, those brows make a whole lot of difference. This step is really important for those that have thin, sparse brows. If yours are thick and full, count yourself lucky and skip this step.

Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil is one of the many choices that is available in drugstores. However, this is one of the few that comes with a spooly like brush that helps to blend the color into the brows easier, without making the brows look awkward and messy.

Image

Mascara : This gives more life to the eyes, making them look bigger and more awake. Choose a mascara that doesn’t clump your lashes, gives great volume and length.

L’Oreal Voluminous Volume Building Mascara has been highly raved by everyone and it really works. Once applied, it seems as though you have beautiful thick long lashes! For a more natural look, choose a brown mascara.

Image

Another alternative would be the CoverGirl Clump Crusher, I’ve had a love hate relationship with this, and currently I love it because when compared to the other mascaras I have, it gives the greatest volume and least amount of clumps. Well, it doesn’t seem to have any clumps anyway. I’m not a huge fan of the Maybelline The Colossal Volum Express Mascara because there’s a very weird scent to it, or maybe it’s only my own tube. Decent mascara, I have to say. But I won’t be re-purchasing it for sure!

Lips : I always get so excited when it comes to lip products because there are so many options around and I would personally just use a lip product and head out of the house. Being the biased person I am, here are my top 3 choices.

The CoverGirl Smoochies Lip Balm is a fab choice because it gives the lips a wash of color and isn’t anything too bold that can be a challenge for some people. I have one in Luv Bug and it’s amazing, I was on Omegle the other day and had that on my lips, almost everyone who came across me commented on how good my lips looked. There’s a very nice scent and a fair amount of glitter, reminds me of something I’d use when I was younger!

Image

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss is a good choice for those that like a glossy finish. I personally think that the shade Super Natural can suit every skin tone. It has the slightest pink undertone and a mauve top color, which is great for those that aren’t very into pinks and still want that “your lips but better” look.

Image

Last but not least, Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me is one of my picks. It’s more of a tinted lip balm that has more of a glossy finish. It smells wonderful and nostalgic, one of those cherry chapsticks that I used to own as a kid, and the amount of color is perfect. Nothing too bold, it’s pretty sheer but definitely gives your lips a “better” color.

There you have it! A look for those who have to rush out of the door in 5 minutes or those that want to look super natural. Hope you’ve enjoyed this post and benefitted from it, stay tuned for more posts!

I’M BACK!

Hello lovelies! I am finally back from my terribly long wait, I can finally start posting!

I know I promised a haul post immediately after I’m done with my exams, but I have yet to get the perfect lighting for great pictures. What’s the point of ugly pictures?

I’ve also been trying different makeup looks, I’ll share them with you once I think they look good! I’m currently not very happy with the way I put on eyeshadow, I’ll need to work on that.

Hope you guys will stay around for more posts, thank you so much for your support!

Hello folks!

I feel so odd not posting for such a long time. Anyways.

I’m taking a little break from all the hectic studying (yeah, right.) to update some stuff!

First off, some items from drugstore.com came in today, so be sure to stick around here for a haul post in about 10 more days!

Secondly, I have been shopping a lot. Online, for that matter. It is so scary how I racked up a bill of a couple hundred dollars in just one week. I am worried for my bank. I just browse through eBay all the time and everything seems so pretty and I couldn’t help myself.

Well I better keep off eBay until next year.

2 papers down already, 7 more to go! Good luck to me because I haven’t been doing a good job at studying lately.

Till then, xoxo.

Geez, there wasn’t any Internet connection for the past few days and it’s annoying me so bad!

I can’t surf the net, and neither can I post anything for all of you.

I can’t wait till my exams end so I can freely write and publish more beauty-related posts.

I’m using a hotspot right now lol hahaha.

I hope y’all won’t go away after seeing so little updates…
