Summer is coming up, yes to beaches and tans! Also, it would be pretty warm and some of us may get pretty sweaty so here’s a makeup tutorial / suggestions on waterproof makeup!

I always find it very ironic when I head to the beach and see women with a red lip on while powdering their face, so this would be a minimal makeup look!

Base, it’ll be the Bobbi Brown BB Cream because it provides a good amount of coverage while having SPF as well, no one wants to get a sunburn! If your base of choice doesn’t have SPF, use a sunscreen before the base.

Keeping it simple on the cheeks, the Topshop Cream Blush in Neon Rose adds a healthy and youthful glow back into the face. Plus, cream blushes look more natural and last longer. Unfortunately, it’s not available anymore so the Revlon PhotoReady Cream Blush in Flushed would do fine.

Minimize shine with a light dust of pressed powder and I’ve used the Smashbox Photo Set Pressed Powder which is nice as it won’t get too cakey.

I’m very happy with my eyebrows and don’t see the need to fill them in so I’ve skipped that and just applied some clear mascara and brushed them out. I’d suggest Benefit’s Gimme Brow if you want some brow action going on.

Moving on the eyeshadow, you can choose to go nude or a Maybelline Color Tattoo would be the perfect choice because once they set, they’re not going to budge. At all. Cream eyeshadows last longer than powder so note that!

I’m not going for eyeliner because it doesn’t tickle my fancy but Stila’s Waterproof Eyeliner is highly recommended if you want some eyeliner business.

Time to load up on waterproof mascara and here I’ve used Maybelline The Rocket as it’s one my favorites. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the waterproof version.

Last but not least, lips! You can choose to use a simple lip balm but I’ve chosen the Revlon Kissable Balm Stain in Honey as it’s a stain (long lasting!) and a balm in one.

Now it’s when I’ll insert a picture of how it turned out and excuse the awkward posing.

Cara Delevingne Makeup Tutorial.

Unless, you’re like Patrick from Spongebob Squarepants who lives under a rock, you should probably know this girl.

Maybe not the name, but you have definitely seen her face somewhere. Ever popular on the runways, tumblr and other social networks.

So I’ve decided to recreate her makeup look, which is subtle yet gorgeous. Read on to find out how!

FACE.

You rarely see her with dewy skin, but her complexion still remains even and natural.

Follow up with a concealer at areas where you have redness, blemishes or dark circles.

Set everything with a powder so that nothing will budge and prevent it slipping away.

EYEBROWS.

Let’s face it, not all of us are blessed with a set of thick and full eyebrows like Delevingne has. So of course, to recreate her look, we need to fill ours in.

anastasia brow powder duo

Anastasia Brow Powder Duo.

Powder has a more natural finish and when filling them in, don’t have an arch that is too high. Fill them from the contours of your nose to the outer corner of the eye (refer to the picture above!)

The website also has guides on which color to choose.

Set your brows with a tinted brow gel for more color.

EYES.

She doesn’t have much eyeshadow action going on, but as you can see, there is some color.

naked basics palette

Urban Decay Naked Basics.

Use Naked 2 all over the lid and a little bit of Faint in the crease and along the lower lash line. (Not the waterline!)

At the lower lash line, smudge it out to give a sultry effect.

Then, use Crave and line the upper lash line, keeping it a thin line, as close to the base of your lashes as possible. This gives an illusion of fuller lashes!

maybelline rocket mascara

Maybelline Rocket Mascara.

Add a few coats of mascara, and I feel that this is an amazing mascara which lengthens your lashes & gives them the most definition.

CHEEKS.

Well, look at her cheekbones.

For those of us that don’t have cheekbones that are as defined as hers, time for some contouring!

the body shop honey bronzer

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer.

This is matte, which is essential for contouring.

To find your cheekbones, suck in your cheeks and make a fish face.

Something like this!

Find your cheekbones and using a big fluffy brush, apply the bronzer right under your cheekbones, to give them more definition.

Be sure to blend well so it doesn’t seem as though there’s dirt on your face!

LIPS.

If you have bigger lips, try using a cream concealer and with a small brush, reshape your lips to a smaller form.

Remember to blend in well.

Now, you’re good to go!

This look is perfect for a bright or dark lip as the rest of the features are quite toned down.

A plum lip color would be great for a sexy / grunge look and a bright one would be great for the upcoming spring time!

Contemplation.

I was just sitting on the toilet bowl (how relaxing, honestly) and flipping through Women’s Weekly, trying to see how those pretty ladies (Olivia Wilde, anyone?) manage to put on natural makeup.

I realised how ridiculous and dumb it was to buy and keep makeup and not use it, just because I like to admire my “collection”. A friend of mine (hi Cheryl I’m pretty sure you’re stalking me) chanced upon my blog and asked if I used makeup. Honestly, I buy those items because I think they’re cute.

I love watching makeup collection videos, especially Estee’s makeup collection. Totally inspired me to collect makeup, but what’s the point if I don’t use them? They’ll expire soon enough.

So while in my relaxation studio (ha) I decided that I should start slow. At my age, I guess it’s pretty okay to start my makeup natural and simple, nothing too extravagant. But I have no idea how to feel right using them. Oh well, time to find my buddy (youtube) to get some help!

This should be a hint to watch out for more product reviews. Hoorah!
