Summer Trilogy : Fashion

If you’ve read my previous post, I’m doing a Summer Trilogy which will get you all ready and prepared to kick-off summer with a shine. (Get it, sun? Ha)

As temperatures go up, it’s much more comfortable to wear clothes that are loose and flowy, with more limbs revealed as no one wants to be a sweat ball in long sleeves.

TOPS : floral patterns and bright colors will kick back into place so here are a few suggestions.

FOR THE GIRLY GIRL,

FOR THE “COOL” GIRL

FOR THE LAZY ONES (me)

Bottoms : It would be rather useful to wear something beach appropriate because you never know if someone would randomly call you out to the beach!

But it’ll still be formal enough for the mall and such.

shorts

Mid-Rise Tomgirl Denim Short.

shorts brandy melville

Bruna Floral Shorts.

minkpink shorts

New Dawn Fades Shorts.

I wouldn’t go for skirts because I feel that skirts are more for Spring. Don’t forget your cute bikini bottoms too!

Basically for shorts, it’ll be nice to go for something that gives you a pop of color if your top is dull and vice versa. Don’t get shorts that are too thick as it’ll be warm and feel free to wear them short as summer is the time to bare!

SHOES : If you’re going to the beach, it’ll be an obvious choice to wear a pair of sandals or flip flops. Don’t go for the boring patterns though, summer is all cheerful so wear something that looks cute and fun!

Eva Flamingo Sandals.

If you’re going to the mall and don’t want to look too casual with these sandals, plimsolls and slip-on sneakers would look cute.

plimsoll

ACCESSORIES : Nothing too much or metallic as the saltwater may corrode it. As well as some of us who may get irritations from the accessories when we sweat. Keep it minimal, it would also minimize losses in the sea.

sunglasses

Retro D-Frame Sunglasses.

Never forget sunglasses as the sun can damage your precious eyes!

bracelet

Layered Seed Bead Bracelet.

kanken bag

Fjallraven Kanken Backpack.

striped backpack

Striped Backpack.

For bags, choose one with either a waterproof material or canvas, this way it’ll make cleaning much easier if it’s wet. A small sling would be perfect for a day at the mall and a bag pack or a beach bag would be enough for the beach!

Summer is coming up, yes to beaches and tans! Also, it would be pretty warm and some of us may get pretty sweaty so here’s a makeup tutorial / suggestions on waterproof makeup!

I always find it very ironic when I head to the beach and see women with a red lip on while powdering their face, so this would be a minimal makeup look!

Base, it’ll be the Bobbi Brown BB Cream because it provides a good amount of coverage while having SPF as well, no one wants to get a sunburn! If your base of choice doesn’t have SPF, use a sunscreen before the base.

Keeping it simple on the cheeks, the Topshop Cream Blush in Neon Rose adds a healthy and youthful glow back into the face. Plus, cream blushes look more natural and last longer. Unfortunately, it’s not available anymore so the Revlon PhotoReady Cream Blush in Flushed would do fine.

Minimize shine with a light dust of pressed powder and I’ve used the Smashbox Photo Set Pressed Powder which is nice as it won’t get too cakey.

I’m very happy with my eyebrows and don’t see the need to fill them in so I’ve skipped that and just applied some clear mascara and brushed them out. I’d suggest Benefit’s Gimme Brow if you want some brow action going on.

Moving on the eyeshadow, you can choose to go nude or a Maybelline Color Tattoo would be the perfect choice because once they set, they’re not going to budge. At all. Cream eyeshadows last longer than powder so note that!

I’m not going for eyeliner because it doesn’t tickle my fancy but Stila’s Waterproof Eyeliner is highly recommended if you want some eyeliner business.

Time to load up on waterproof mascara and here I’ve used Maybelline The Rocket as it’s one my favorites. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the waterproof version.

Last but not least, lips! You can choose to use a simple lip balm but I’ve chosen the Revlon Kissable Balm Stain in Honey as it’s a stain (long lasting!) and a balm in one.

Now it’s when I’ll insert a picture of how it turned out and excuse the awkward posing.
